What is Cantref
Cymdeithas Tai Cantref is a ‘Registered Social Landlord’. It is a ‘not for profit’ housing association registered with the Financial Services Authority under Charitable Rules. The Association is also registered with the Welsh Assembly Government, the body that regulates and distributes grants to housing associations in Wales.
Cantref’s main activity is the provision of general needs housing which is let on reasonable rents that local people can afford.
Cantref also has a number of supported housing schemes for people with special needs who require support to live in the housing provided. It also has 3 sheltered schemes for the elderly with resident wardens as well as flats and bungalows for the elderly without a warden.
Cantref is the housing association that administers the Homebuy Scheme on behalf of the Welsh Assembly Government in Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire. This scheme assists people on low incomes to purchase a house or flat on the open market.
Ceredigion Care and Repair is also part of Cantref. This Department gives advice and support to elderly and disabled people regarding adaptations, improvements and repairs to their homes.
The Association works closely with local authorities and other statutory and voluntary bodies and aims to ensure that it supports local contractors, suppliers and companies in developing housing.
Cantref aims to provide all its tenants and residents with homes of a high standard and a careful and prompt service in Welsh or English as they choose.
